Cprime Launches New Global Responsibility Program

Our planet is in a state of emergency. Massive ice sheets in the Arctic are melting at alarming rates, weather patterns are becoming more extreme with sharp jumps in the numbers and severe storms, while 1 in every 6 people around the world lives in extreme poverty (defined as living on less than $1 a day).

We at Cprime are doing our part to stop global warming and help those in need. We understand that it is our Global Responsibility to care for our earth and our community. In this article, we are proud to announce the official launch of our Cprime Global Responsibility Program.

Our Goals:

    1. Become a Completely Sustainable Corporation by end of FY’2008. (Defined by measuring our environmental footprint, reducing carbon emissions where we can, then finally purchasing Carbon Offsets from TerraPass for our remaining CO2 emissions).

    1. Measure our Reduction Efforts (pre carbon offset) and Publicly Report the Data in terms of CO2 emissions per Employee. (Defined by total internal operations CO2 emissions averaged over the number of cPrime employees). Our goal is to steadily watch this average continue to drop over time, as we persist in finding creative ways to reduce our CO2 emissions.

    1. Provide our Clients the Option of Purchasing our Existing Service Offerings on a Carbon Neutral basis by the end of FY’2008. (Defined by measuring client engagements in terms of CO2 footprint metric tons, suggesting ways to reduce that footprint and then purchasing Carbon Offsets from TerraPass for the remaining amount).

    1. Donate 200 hours of Pro Bono & Community Service to our chosen Community Programs in FY’2009. (Since Cprime is growing rapidly, we will adjust this number appropriately).

How are we going to do it? We’ve broken our Global Responsibility Program into two major components.cGreen, which outlines how we will minimize our environmental footprint as a company and cBlue, which outlines our approach for societal and communal donation and support.

cGreen: The goal of the internal operations segment within our Global Responsibility Program is to become a completely sustainable company by the end of 2008, while holding ourselves accountable via measuring and reporting our status. In other words, we will have a net zero environmental impact and we’ll be an open book as to how we’re doing. We plan to reduce our carbon footprint, conserve where we can and educate ourselves and our clients on better, more efficient ways to do business.

What do we do when we can’t reduce, conserve or educate any further? Our solution is that we’ve partnered with TerraPass (the “gold standard” in carbon offsets), to offset our carbon footprint on a quarterly basis. Our company will be audited and we will report back to you (via our website) about how we’re doing in terms of our CO2 emissions.

As project managers, we have a long reach. In our line of work we touch many different people, projects, companies and industries. This access allows us to help not only ourselves but our clients. This gateway permits us to provide our clients a very unique service offering. We are able to offer any of our existing services on a Carbon Neutral basis. In doing this, we will be able to continually educate and remind folks to be aware of all things that have an environmental impact, helping them to quantify and ultimately minimize their environmental footprint. cBlue: The qualitative goal of the cBlue segment within our Global Responsibility program is to help people. That’s it, pretty simple really. Our amazing cPrime team members already work very closely within our community, volunteering with organizations such as American Cancer Society, Red Cross, Junior League of San Francisco, Yeah!, etc. We would like this segment to be used as a vehicle to give back to our community through a number of official cPrime relationships while continuing to aid and support our employee’s efforts in their own passions and causes. Our quantitative goal here (hey, we’re project managers remember?) is to donate 200 hours of cPrimer’s time to helping various communal and societal causes, ranging from working with underprivileged kids in our local communities to disadvantaged people around the world.

We are striving to save the world, both its environment and its people. It’s a big job, overwhelming to say the least… But if we start by setting an example and then by helping others to follow that example, pretty soon the world will be a far better place for ourselves and our children. We just need to put one foot in front of the other, keep doing good, always doing better.
