Fire Up your JIRA Capabilities with Power Scripts for JIRA

Cprime announced in May that it had acquired Power Scripts for JIRA™, a popular plugin to Atlassian JIRA that extends its base functionality with powerful scripting and automation tools. Power Scripts replaces several smaller plugins, and is also easier to use and more affordable than other plugins.

“If you’re a developer who uses JIRA every day, you’ll love Power Scripts for JIRA,” said Brandon Cipes, Cprime vice president. “It has deep and far-reaching capabilities that help you build the collaboration tools your teams need to help you get the most out of JIRA.”

Features of Power Scripts for JIRA

You can use Power Scripts to:

  • Enhance and automate your workflows
  • Harness the power of JIRA without technical knowledge of JIRA
  • Create custom workflow validators and post functions
  • Manipulate JIRA UI

A main feature of Power Scripts is that it is written in Simple Issue Language (SIL), which was created from the ground up exclusively for JIRA users. SIL is easy to learn and easy to use.

Fields are written and referenced in human readable format. You don’t need to know how JIRA imports, defines, or states classes to reference the fields you want to manipulate. References to fields and operations can be understood and coded by administrators with little programming experience in a powerful editor right within JIRA.

And because Power Scripts sits on top of JIRA, it’s forward and backwards compatible you don’t need to update your scripts when upgrading your JIRA.

Other features of the plugin allow you to:

Create a script (once), callable from:

  • Workflows via true/false conditions
  • User via browser
  • Remote system via API
  • Listener events
  • Incoming email from existing mail handlers

Synchronize systems data

For example, a change in the host JIRA can then call a remote JIRA to take similar or different actions

Interact with a remote database in scripts

For example, if an issue field changes, it will populate different custom fields with associated fields in a remote database record

Interact with LDAP

For example, check that an LDAP user has a certain zip code before you’re allowed to proceed through a script

Send mail as part of a SIL script, with user-creatable templates

You don’t need to be held hostage by JIRA’s event-driven options

Live Fields

Hide or add UI components based on any parameters you choose

Schedule scripts to run on an interval or as a chron job
