Course Description

This one to three-day, facilitated workshop is for everyone in the agile product discovery group. During the workshop, participants apply agile product discovery practices while working on a real life product initiative. At the end of the workshop, the product idea has a prioritized release backlog. The product backlog enables tracking of both progress and tracking of value delivered. It also serves as a roadmap for delivery, identifying cross-team dependencies, and providing a plan for coordinated delivery. This workshop teaches valuable skills to accelerate a product initiative from idea to launch.

Participants learn and apply the following practices:

  1. Collaborative framing – gain a common understanding of what you are building, who you are building it for, why you are building it, and who will do the building
  2. Pragmatic personas – Identify and understand your users/customers to provide clarity to deliverable goals
  3. Story mapping – visualize the product story from the user’s point of view
  4. Design studio – generate a lot of ideas in terms of what the user experience could be; blend ideas to come to a low-fidelity sketch
  5. Customer journeys – identify smaller paths through the user experience that allow delivery of value to the market in smaller increments and provide for an accelerated cadence of learning
  6. MVP – Define “Minimum Viable Products” using journeys and slicing and more

By the end of the workshop you will have:

    • A 3-6 month product frame
    • 2-3 user personas
    • A visualization of your product story
    • A sequenced (and often sized) list of customer journeys which represents a product backlog/roadmap
