Microsoft Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow) is an automation tool in Microsoft 365 that empowers users to automate tasks and processes without writing code. For example, you can use Power Automation to automatically save email attachments to OneDrive or SharePoint. Need a process to approve leave requests? Use Power Automate!
Students will learn how and why to use Microsoft Power Automate. We will begin by creating Flows from one of the hundreds of available templates and then customizing the Flow to meet their specific requirements. Then, we’ll cover how to create totally customized Flow from scratch. Exercises will lead students through creating Flows with a variety of “connectors” including SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, Teams and Outlook/Exchange. Lab exercises will also demonstrate how to automate common tasks such as sending emails or kicking off a business process when a specific event takes place such as receiving an email or when a new SharePoint list item is created.
One of the most popular Power Automate features is the ability to process approvals. Students will learn how to create a simple approval process. Then, they build on that knowledge by creating approval Flows check to verify that an approver is not “out of the office” before assigning an approval to them as well as sending reminder emails to the approver.
Finally, students will extend their Power Automate knowledge with an introduction to using Flow expressions.
This class is designed for End Users (team members, project members) and Power Users who are new to Power Automate with little to no experience.
